hasSummary
  • The Climate Analysis Center (CAC) of the U.S. National Meteorological Center (NMC) produced gridded analyses of temperature and wind in the atmosphere by combining the operational tropospheric analyses from NMC and radiosonde and rocketsonde observations in the stratosphere. Grids are available at mandatory pressure levels from 1000 mbar up to 0.4 mbar. Additionally, total-column ozone and longwave radiation are also included. Global coverage is achieved by combining the grids for the northern and southern hemispheres at each time step. The Flattery analysis method was used through 26 July 1984, so the usefulness of grids in that period is suspect. After that time, the analysis method used was the same as for other NMC global operational outputs.
