  • World Data Center for Solid Earth Physics, Moscow exists since 1971 as department of the Geophysical Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences and operates under the auspices of the National Geophysical Committee of Russian Federation. It is a part of the World Data Center System of the International Council for Science (ICSU). The activity of the WDC for SEP, Moscow is carried out according to the “Guide to the World Data Center System”. The WDC for SEP, Moscow maintains extensive archives of data on seismology, gravimetry, geomagnetism, geothermics, recent movements, marine geology and geophysics, topography and so on. The WDC for SEP provides access to all these data and also serves as information and reference center because information on other data centers and data providers, interesting data sets, and data bases is collected along with data. The WDC for SEP responds to data and information requests from users from all over the world, and serves visitors from any country. The WDC for SEP is open to visitors and guests from any country during normal working hours, Monday through Friday. Advance notice of visit is recommended. Data in archives can be found through online inventories. These searches are free of charge. WDC SEP, Moscow staff gives consultations and selecst, copies and sends data for users visiting Center or requesting data by phone or mail at cost of copying and mailing. The WDC for SEP, Moscow co-operates with other WDCs (WDC for Solid Earth Geophysics, Boulder (USA), WDC for Marine Geology and Geophysics, Boulder (USA), WDC for Seismology, Denver (USA), WDCs in China and others) and some analytical and special Centers (International Seismological Center, Internatiomal Gravimetric Bureau, European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, International Recent Movements Center, Geophysical Survey of RAS). It is connected with many research institutes and permanent services in Russia and other countries. The WDC for SEP is active in scientific International and Russian projects and programs. Over several years WDC for SEP was involved in "The Geotraverse Project" of International Program "The Global Geoscienc Transects".
