  • The University of Oregon Institute for a Sustainable Environment is a center for special, collaborative, and applied research projects. The institute's activities aim to produce information that can help resolve complex problems and enable people to sustain the economies and environmental systems that support their communities. Institute for a Sustainable Environment projects assist regions and communities in the U.S. Pacific Northwest and around the world. The projects are initiated by faculty and funded by foundations and agencies outside the university. The institute does not have any instructional programs and only employs faculty, students, and visiting scholars.
