responsible natural resource management.
The Forestry Division is responsible for:
* Integrated resource management (IRM) planning for forest resources.
* Developing and conducting research to improve forest management practices
and to develop strategies for meeting sustainable development objectives.
* Maintaining a provincial forest inventory and a comprehensive digital (GIS)
database.
* Compiling and reporting on data relative to the forest resources.
* Coordinating the maintenance of scaling standards for roundwood and the
licensing of scalers.
* Coordinating the provincial forest fire management and integrated forest
pest management programs, including required staff training.
* Managing the provincial forest nursery including the Provincial Tree
Improvement Program.
