- The Dartmouth Flood Observatory is a research tool for detection, mapping,
measurement, and analysis of extreme flood events world-wide using satellite
remote sensing. They use microwave and optical satellite imaging of selected
river reaches to detect overbank flood and extreme low flow conditions. The
Observatory also provides yearly catalogs, maps, and images of river floods,
from 1985 to the present, and it is developing methods for obtaining
globally-consistent measurements of these events.
