The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) is an
inter-disciplinary committee of the International Council for
Science (ICSU). SCAR is charged with the initiation, promotion
and coordination of scientific research in Antarctica. It also
provides scientific advice to the Antarctic Treaty System.
