The Office of Energy Efficiency (OEE), Canada's centre of
excellence for energy efficiency and alternative fuels
information, is playing a dynamic leadership role in helping
Canadians save millions of dollars in energy costs while
addressing the challenges of climate change.
The OEE manages 7 energy efficiency and alternative fuels
programs aimed at the residential, commercial, industrial and
transportation sectors. The consolidation of these programs
under a single organization enables the OEE to be more proactive
in promoting energy efficiency and more comprehensive in meeting
the information needs of clients, who range from individual
consumers to school boards, hospitals and large corporations.
With the assistance of the National Advisory Council on Energy
Efficiency, the OEE is also charged with identifying
opportunities for new and heightened energy efficiency
measures. As well, it keeps Canadians abreast of developments in
technology that can reduce the consumption of fossil fuels or
support the transition to less carbon-intensive energy sources,
including renewable energy.
Informing key decision-makers in government, industry and the
environmental and international communities about Canada's
energy efficiency efforts and successes is a major focus of the
OEE. Toward this end, the OEE publishes an annual report
entitled The State of Energy Efficiency in Canada.
The OEE also communicates information to Canadians and others
through this comprehensive web site that provides details on OEE
programs, offers practical advice to consumers, businesses,
governments and institutions, and has links to hundreds of
related sites around the world.
