definition
  • The Global Oscillations at Low Frequencies (GOLF) experiment on the SOHO mission aims to study the internal structure of the sun by measuring the spectrum of global oscillations in the frequency range 10-7 to 10-2 Hz. Both p and g mode oscillations will be investigated, with the emphasis on the low order long period waves which penetrate the solar core. For more information, see: http://golfwww.medoc-ias.u-psud.fr/golf1.htm A complete description of the GOLF instrument was published by Solar Physics, vol. 162, p. 61-99, 1995. http://golfwww.medoc-ias.u-psud.fr/golf_ps/paper_descrip.ps Group: Instrument_Details Entry_ID: GOLF Group: Instrument_Identification Instrument_Category: Solar/Space Observing Instruments Instrument_Class: Magnetic Field/Electric Field Instruments Short_Name: GOLF Long_Name: Global Oscillations at Low Frequencies End_Group Group: Associated_Platforms Short_Name: SOHO End_Group Group: Spectral_Frequency_Information Wavelength_Keyword: Ultraviolet Number_Channels: 1 Spectral_Frequency_Coverage_Range: 17 A End_Group Online_Resource: http://golfwww.medoc-ias.u-psud.fr/ Online_Resource: http://www.astro.ucla.edu/~bertello/golf.html Sample_Image: http://golfwww.medoc-ias.u-psud.fr/golf_images/golf_instru.jpg Group: Instrument_Logistics Instrument_Start_Date: 1995-12-02 Instrument_Owner: Institut d'Astrophysique Spatiale at Orsay, France Instrument_Owner: Service d'Astrophysique, Frence Instrument_Owner: Instituto de Astrofýsica de Canarias, Spain Instrument_Owner: Observatoire de l'Universitý Bordeaux, France Instrument_Owner: Observatoire de la Cýte d'Azur, France Instrument_Owner: University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) End_Group End_Group
