- While Dr. Shigeyoshi Matsumae, the founder of TES, was young, he tried to find the path along which he should direct his future life. He asked himself the question, "How should I live my life to maximize my energy, faith and devotion?" Attending a Bible Study Group conducted by Kanzo Uchimura, a Japanese teacher of Christianity, he found himself particularly impressed by Uchimura's teachings. In addition, the history of Denmark and the rebuilding of that nation through education were particular sources of enlightenment for him.
