- The Institute for Study of the Earth's Interior (ISEI) was renewed on April 1st, 2005 through a contract with Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) for a 10-year period. This follows the previous reorganizations (1985 and 1995) that created the Nationwide Joint-use Research Center and established the present framework for research and education.
