- ESRI (Environmental Systems Research Institute)
is a world leader in GIS information. ESRI was founded in 1969
as a privately held consulting firm that specialized in land use
analysis projects. Originally located in a historical home among
orange groves, the worldwide headquarters of ESRI are now
anchored in a multicampus environment in Redlands, California.
Mission Statement: Focus on the principles of organizing and
analyzing geographic information. To do this ESRI produced
commercial software that could create, analyze, and interpret
geographic data which is formally known today as GIS (Geographic
Information Systems).
