- Welcome to Kobe University. It is my privilege to introduce Kobe University, one of the oldest and leading universities in Japan, top rated for both research and teaching. The seven research groups are designated as the International Centers of Excellence and five educational programs as "Good Practices" by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology. This strong academic quality and tradition is proved by the fact that all faculties and schools, from Humanities, to Social Sciences, to Natural Sciences and to Bio-Medical Sciences, have doctoral programs at the world-class standard. Today the University enrolls more than 4,500 postgraduate students along with 13,000 undergraduate students.
