- The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Department of Atmospheric
Sciences conducts research involving the pplication of physics, mathematics,
and chemistry to problems ranging from the rapid formation of small aerosol and
cloud particles, through the daily and weekly variation in weather systems to
international and much larger changes in global atmospheric chemistry and
climate. Recent technological developments in computing and atmospheric
measurement have made modern meteorology a blend of science and engineering.
The broad spectrum of activities within the atmospheric sciences, including
environmentally related studies, is reflected in the following summary of the
Department's current research projects.
-Atmospheric Chemistry
-Atmospheric Composition
-Climate Dynamics
-Education
-Large-Scale Dynamics
-Mesoscale and Convective Dynamics
-Numerical Weather Analyis and Prediction
-Physical Meteorology
-Radiative Transfer
-Satellite Remote Sensing
-Synoptic Meteorology
