- The mission of the Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management
is to bring a diverse research, teaching, and extension capacity to bear on
environmental problems from local to global scales. The biological, physical,
and social scientists of the department are organized into three divisions
based on similar disciplinary or topical research interests, but all work
within the unifying framework of the analysis of environmental problems, and
the development of management strategies to address them. Environmental
problems demand increased understanding of social, physical, and biological
systems, and the transfer of basic research findings through modeling,
implementation, teaching, and extension. ESPM facilitates the
cross-disciplinary collaboration necessary to address vital, contemporary
questions.
