- The Spatial Analysis Center uses computerized geographic information to track
cultural and natural resources, detect trends over time, and model ecological
processes. The key to this technology is the use of Geographic Information
System (GIS) software. GIS provides a look at Yellowstone's resources through a
multi-feature, multi-dimensional view, allowing for analysis of park resources
from a completely new perspective. Park managers use the results of the
center's analysis to aid decision-making concerning park resources.
