- The Department of Ecology was founded in 1977, the Institute of Biosciences at the University of Sao Paulo, for teachers from the Departments of Botany and Zoology. Atualmente, possui 17 docentes que atuam em 3 grandes áreas de pesquisa: Ecologia de Paisagens e Conservaਣo Biológica, Ecologia de Ecossistemas Terrestres e Aquáticos e Ecologia de Populaਵes.
