The entomology and plant pathology faculty, staff and graduate
students at Auburn University are primarily housed in Funchess Hall,
Extension Hall, and the Life Sciences Building. These buildings
provide space for offices, research and teaching laboratories, the
entomology musuem, the Biological Control Institute, insect rearing
rooms, photographic darkroom and computer facilities.
Other on-campus research facilities include greenhouses, an insectary,
the Plant Diagnostic Lab, the Pesticide Research Facility, the
Imported Fire Ant Laboratory, the Insect Biochemistry and Molecular
Biology Laboratory, Mycology Laboratory, Fescue Diagnostic Laboratory
, electron microscopy laboratories, the Nuclear Science Center, USDA
Regional Parasite Research Laboratory, and the University Library.
Research on insects and diseases affecting crops and animal production
receives support at 15 Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station
substations located in a diversity of habitats throughout the
state. Research in tropical environments is possible through Auburn
University's faculty and student exchange agreements with universities
in Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Honduras. Auburn University is also a
member of the Organization for Tropical Studies (OTS) and thus offers
students the opportunity to participate in activities of that
organization.
