- On September 24, 2007, Autodesk, Inc. acquired most all of the intellectual property of Mentor Software, Inc. Autodesk, Inc. announced the transaction on September 25, 2007, at the Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial 2007 conference in Victoria, British Columbia, and also announced its intention to donate significant portions of the newly acquired intellectual property to the Open Source Geospatial Foundation. Autodesk, Inc. also announced that Norm Olsen, the principal software engineer behind Mentor Software’s products, will become a senior software engineer at Autodesk, Inc.
