hasSummary
  • The Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer for EOS (AMSR-E) onboard the NASA EOS Aqua satellite is a remote sensing instrument for measuring weak microwave emission from the surface and the atmosphere of the Earth.AMSR-E images are available ffrom June 1st 2002. All available measurements for a single day are averaged into twice-daily gridded files for two different Polar Stereo Projection: Northern Hemisphere, Southern Hemisphere. The spatial resolution is 0.1 degree (10 km) for AMSR-E channels 6, 10, 18, 23, 36GHz, and 0.05 degree (5 km) for the 89 GHz channel. The spatial resolution is 0.1 degree (10 km) for Sea surface temperature, Sea ice concentration.Data are stored as 2-byte integers in binary arrays.
